Synopsis. Nathan Ellis (Asa Butterfield) is quiet and mostly non communicative except when dealing with numbers. His pediatrician diagnoses him with autism. Nathan finds peace of mind in patterns. The nine-year-old math prodigy has just lost his father Michael Ellis (Martin McCann) in a car accident. In the film, one of Nathan’s team-mates/rivals is a character named Luke (a terrific performance from Jake Davies) who is modelled on Jos Gibbons in Beautiful Young Minds, from his close-clippedA BEAUTIFUL MIND (2001) Rating: 10/10. A Beautiful Mind's greatest achievement, in my humble opinion, is the way it makes schizophrenia accessible to "sane" people. The general public knows schizophrenics tend to talk to themselves, repeat certain actions and do things generally at odds with the norm.

Factual errors. The double rainbow that Nathan and Zhang Mei see from the train when they arrive in England is wrongly generated. The secondary rainbow should be inverted with purple on the outside of the arc but in the movie red is on the outside. The rainbow should also be opposite the sun so the shadows on the ground should point towards it.A Brilliant Young Mind offers one of the best portrayals of a person with Asperger syndrome, and is a great film about human communication.
