The song begins with a piano melody and gradually builds up with a mix of electronic and acoustic sounds. The chorus is the highlight of the song with its soaring melodies and heartfelt lyrics. The Chainsmokers have always been known for their electronic dance music, but “Something Just Like This” showed a different side to their music. It can be as short as opening the lid, putting out the music, playing a phrase once, then putting everything away. Whether it be 10 minutes, 5 minutes, 1 minute, or 30 seconds, any practice is better than no practice. That's what I say anyway. It's essentially a way of building up discipline and habit. Tbf the chord progression is extremely common in Chainsmokers songs so it's a reasonable opinion to hold. As a song, it's sleek and catchy, but lacks the soul and depth of most Coldplay stuff.
It just felt like a block making me incapable of touching that piano. To this day the comments still continue. Parents even accused my teacher for saying something that might’ve made me stop playing or be disgusted by the piano, I was shocked about it since he was probably one of the best and nice teachers out there.
